I prefer HG because of the music to bell tower and the epic ho-oh appearance.

I chose HeartGold, cause my girlfriend wanted SoulSilver (she just wanted the Lugia figure)

I would've gotten SoulSilver, cause I thought it was the least popular (was wrong)

I got SS because I'm planning on getting HG in Japanese. Gold was always my favorite original game.

Ethan, Pearl was the better of the two. I'll be getting both, but I'm getting HG first, and it'll probably be my main. Will anyone spare me some EV'd Pokémon when I get it, or at least the EV'ing items?
