Update #13:

Quilava Lv23, Gastly Lv 22, Slowpoke Lv21. Traded a Yanma in an Egg from my Plat. It hasn't hatched, but it has Faint Attack. In Ecruteak Gym. I HATE Rival's Gastly, BTW. On my first try (I had to battle him three times) I was cursed, paralysed, confused, and Mean Looked. My Gastly went down really quick.

Update #4:

Quilava Lv25, Gastly Lv24, Slowpoke Lv25, Yanma Lv1. Yanma's just hatched, and I'm training a Noctowl with Insomnia to try and take down Morty's Gengar. Seriously, after that Haunter, it's amazing how quickly your Pokés go down to OP Shadow Balls while you're fumbling about with Awakenings (Hypnosis is only good when I use it!). So yeah. Had a poke about in Mt. Mortar, lost $1000 to those grunts near Lake Of Rage, and stuffed about in the Game Corner. I'm just figuring out Voltorb Flip, I've gotten to Lv 3 so far.

I was able to take down morty's gengar quite easily, theres a shadow claw right before the path to mahogany town, i put it one my furret (so it knew shadow claw quick attack forsight and fury swipes)also if you hatch togepi from cherrygrove, it knows extrsensory which supereffects poison types

It's that evil sleep-haxing Haunter that's the problem. By the time I knock it out, roughly half of my Pokés are asleep. Drives me nuts.

Oh, you can try catching a drowzee by the day care house, they use the abillity insomnia so it should be a help

I'm training a Hootoot for it, Drowzee isn't as good because of the weakness to Ghost. However, Noctowl is completely immune to Ghost (being a part Normal-type), so all I have to worry about is Sucker Punch. Thanks anyway.

Lv25 Quilava, Lv24 Gastly, Lv25 Slowpoke, Lv1 Yanma, Lv5 Eevee. Training a Noctowl for Morty.

I got myself an Eevee. After about three soft resets it came up with a Modest nature - perfect for a Jolteon in particular, which is what I had in mind. Anyway, still stuffing around, had a proper explore of Burned Tower and Mt. Mortar (Mt. Mortar is blocked by Rock Climb in some places, and as I don't yet have Rock Climb, there is not much I can do about that. I found a Magmar in Burned Tower, but it would not let itself be caught, and I ran out of Poké Balls. I had to knock it out. >_<), spent a bit more time in the Game Corner. My mum keeps digging into my money to buy those super-effective-half-damage-thingimagodgit Berries, like Tanga and Coba etc, and she only seems to buy the ones that my team are not weak to. That's mothers for you.

Lv27 Quilava, Lv27 Gengar, Lv27 Slowking, Lv12 Yanma, Lv9 Eevee

WOOHOO!!! I got some trades and evolved half my team! I've also beaten Morty since I last posted an update. I'm so happy, I feel like... like... storming Cianwood, which is next on the list anyway!! I've still got some leve grinding to do with Yanma and Eevee, but I'm heading for Lake of Rage next, for a Red Scale. Then I'll get Exp. Share, which will help enormously. I'm so happy! Lv28 Quilava, Lv27 Gengar, Lv27 Slowking, Lv20 Yanma, Lv9 Eevee

Not been doing much. Been doing the Pokéathlon for a Thunderstone, and level-grinding Yanma. I got the Red Gyarados (did a bit of SRing, it's Brave nature) and got the Exp. Share. I'm not going to do the Lance/Mahogany Town/Team Rocket thing just yet. Heading for Cianwood now.

BIG jump here. I spent the whole day on my DS, and I've got myself all the way to Blackthorn City, meaning Team Rocket is a thing of the past. I've finally managed to make a decision on my final Pokémon: Mamoswine. I need something for Clair anyway, and I don't have a Ground move, and Mamo just went straight into that hole like a piece in a jigsaw. I've just realised how seriously underleveled I am, even compared to the Gym Trainers...

Update #9

Typhlosion, Gengar, Slowking, Yanmega, Jolteon, Swinub, all Lv41-43

Up to the E4 now. Tried it once and was thoroughly beaten into the ground by Lance. I've decided to try and get at least the core aspects of my team (Jolteon, Typhlosion, Mamoswine) up to Lv50. Typhlosion takes out Will's Jynx and Exeggutor, Koga's Ariados, Forretress, and Venomoth and Karen's Vileplume. Also helps to KO defensive and annoying little scrubs like Umbreon with STAB Blast Burn. Jolteon covers Will's Xatus and Slowbro, Koga's Crobat (which Jolt doesn't outspeed due to level difference), Karen's Murkrow and Lance's imitation dragons. Mamo takes out most other things with STAB EQs and Ice Shards. I just need to level a bit. What with, though? The E4? Victory Road? The route below Victory Road? Ice Path, even?

Umbreon doesn't have STAB Blast Burn. Just whore the E4 until you're high enough level. Or, just go buy rare candies. You'll only need no more than 2 per Pokémon. And give Jolty a Choice Scarf, outspeed that Bat, and rape.

EDIT: Just re-read what you said. You meant Typhlosion having STAB Blast Burn.

Okay, I got super lucky. I encountered a Shiny Mareep while doing the Arceus event. And I've got it on video!

I find it funny...we need to look at ourselves, for a normal person it would take weeks probaly even months to beat these games but us...US!!we beat it in the matter of three days as far as i know nintedo,game freak, and all thoes other creators of the pokemon rpg games werent planing for us peopl

After over 103 hours of Playtime I bought a Sun Stone from the Pokeathlon and used it to evolve my Gloom into a Bellossom. That gave me a perfect 256 of 256 on the Johto dex!! I have 391 on the National Dex. Im hoping to eventually get one of each but it may take awhile. Despite the fact Ive now got the Full Johto dex, I Still have not been able to catch the Latios thats roaming Kanto. Ive false swiped him down to 1 HP and Hypnosis'd him to sleep but I still cant catch him(IVe used at least 20 ULtra/Dusk/Quick/Fast Balls). So hes essentially flying around asleep and crippled and I still cant catch him-LOL. Ive never had any pokemon be this hard to catch in any game. Has anyone else out there had this much difficulty with Latios/Latias?

I haven't even seen my Latios yet, but in Diamond I remember having the same trouble with Mesprit for some reason. It just wouldn't go in no matter what! In the end, I caught it in a Premier Ball. o_o

I've already caught my Latias - it was hard, and I was so excitedwhen I caught it that I didn't want to lose it, so I saved three times before leaving. Then I went to have a look at it in the PC. It was Adamant. -_-

In all the years Ive been playing Pokemon Ive caught a grand total of 1 shiny pokemon in the wild(not including red gyrados because everyone gets him) and it was a lowly Kricketune. I was very happy to have any shiny but now a Shiny Ditto caught just outside of Goldenrod City!! I was so afraid Id accidentally kill him I didnt attack him at all and hoped that I could catch him at full strength and thankfully an Ultra Ball did the trick! I am SO happy. Nothing like a shiny caucght int he wild to brighten your night!
