The Times and Sagas of Rotom Hovel Empty The Times and Sagas of Rotom Hovel

…Far into the future…

Humans have deemed the Pokémon world to be unsuitable for survival due to overpollution, overflowing landfills and global warming. Fifty years ago they packed their race into a huge spaceship, Arceus knows what happened to them. Every plant, every being made of flesh and bone have died from the pollution. All those not made of flesh and bone - the odd nomadic legendary, the renegade Porygon clan and the tougher Rock, Poison and Steel-types - still survive and have made their home. This is the epic story of survival, of courage and of defending their home against the elements of this broken, rotting world - the Rotom clan.

----

The Rotom clan are physically unchanged ever since Charon first discovered them, but their mental capacity and awareness have increased tenfold over the centuries, and they have moved on from the conventional five motors that they can inhabit. Now they have the ability to use nearly any motor or machine part they wish, they have developed language and a society based around the fact that every Rotom in the closely-knit society of the Rotom Hovel can be identified by the piece of machinery that it inhabits. They also get a special move, as do the original five motors that are still inhabited by the five leaders of the Hovel. The small children have no form, and have to undertake the Motoring ritual to obtain a Forme. With the absence of a Ditto in the colony, the Rotom Hovel had to rely on the Regeneration Machine for it's young. It worked like this: an elderly Rotom would begin to feel himself dying (it usually happened at around fifty years after his birth), so he'd instantly shed his Motor and head to the Regeneration Machine. The Machine would reduce the dying elder to his base components, renew them and clone them, opening to allow two new baby Rotom with nothing but their instincts to guide them out into the world. If another Rotom saw the Elder shedding his machinery, he would follow they dying Pokémon, ready to guide the baby Rotom to the Infirmary to be cared for when they popped out of the Machine. The Rotom clan would quickly run out of machinery for their young to inhabit, if not for the exploits of Registeel the Hoarder. Every Rotom in the Hovel looks forward to the day when Registeel comes into the Hovel to show them the various appliances and machinery that he's brought for the younger ones to inhabit, every fifth of July, Hoarding Day.

----

In this roleplay, you are given the opportunity to be one of these Rotom. You may call yourself by a name, but nobody else besides your closest friends will use them: All of the teachers and officials in the colony will call you by your number and your signature move, i.e. Rotom-1637 (Water Gun).

According to tradition, the five original Formes (Frost, Cut, Wash, Air and Heat) are given to the highest five Pokémon in authority: the Mayor, the Gatekeeper, the Dormitory Master, the Head Doctor and the Head Cook.

Rotom-F is the Head Cook. She takes complete responsibility for perishable foods as she hates to see it under anyone else's care (or, according to her, lack thereof), and you can be sure that wherever she goes, half of the entire food stock of the Hovel goes with her inside her refrigerator form.

Rotom-W and her assistant, Rotom-2608 (Uproar), a bass amplifier, run the Hovel Dormitories. Every morning, Rotom-2608 wakes everybody up with what can only be described as a wall of sound, and those that don't move quick enough are slammed into wakefulness by a barrage of cold water from Rotom-W's nozzle. Most people are scared rather than respectful of Rotom-W - she is the Rotom Hovel equivalent of Matron.

Rotom-H is the Mayor of Rotom Hovel. He has an incredibly fiery temper, and if he's at all insulted (even slightly) something will get fried with Overheat before he's calmed down. Despite this, he's a very funny and friendly Pokémon and everybody likes him.

Rotom-A is the Head Doctor and Master of the Infirmary. He's often very patronising of sick patients, asking them what they've been eating if they gastro and how they really should stay away from the Grimer colony up the hill. However, he's so friendly and good natured that most of the Rotom can't stand to dislike him, and the way he jiggles his fan blades left and right when he laughs is very infectious. He likes to crack derogatory jokes to the patients about Rotom-F's cooking, and the two are fierce rivals.

Rotom-C is the Official Secretary and Gatekeeper of the Hovel. He's quite critical of newcomers, and treats everybody but the other four elders and Registeel the Hoarder with a rough disrespect born of authority. He's the best friend of Registeel, and sometimes he leaves his duties to a lesser Rotom and goes off on one of Registeel's hoarding trips. The Hoarder likes the company, and makes good use of the extra pair of… grabbing… implement… things.

----

All righty.

You start as a young Rotom just out of your Motoring ritual. A Rotom can inhabit anything that comes out of a machine, and can have any special move in the game (physical moves are possible, but any Rotom's physical attack is bound to be pathetic…). It must correspond to the machine you're inhabiting, i.e. a sawblade Rotom with Flash Cannon, an outboard motor Rotom with Surf, or a vacuum cleaner Rotom with Vacuum Wave. You cannot use a move already taken either by another person in the role-play or one of the five forms in the games.

Rules

1. Standard roleplaying rules, no flames, trolls, power-plays, sure-hits (against NPCs it's not so bad, but keep it fair).
2. You must stay in your chosen Forme for the duration of the role-play. You choose a Forme and a signature move, and that's the one you keep until you come out to go to the Regeneration Machine.
3. You can't walk out of your Motoring ritual and immediately become a Guard or a cook. It works like any other society, you must do a few odd jobs to gain the respect of your superiors to achieve your ends. You wanna do something, you gotta work for it.
4. Please choose a practical signature move, no Spacial Rends, Judgements, Aeroblasts etc.
5. Post "LUDICOLO!!!!" (with four exclamation marks) in your post if you read this.

Form

Code:
[i]Name:[/i] (only other players will use this, all NPCs will use your number in conversation)
[i]Number and Move:[/i] Rotom-<number> (<move here>)
[i]Forme:[/i]
[i]Personality:[/i] <Must be good if you want to be accepted>

Name: Montague Piccioni
Number and Move: Rotom-0596 (Earth Power)
Forme: Construction-site jackhammer
Personality: Montague is a bit cheeky at the best of times, but makes a valiant effort to be respectful in front of the Elders and Registeel. He likes to have fun, but finds himself being boxed in by all the rules and regulations, making him quite annoyed with his middle-class social standing. At least he has a motor. Montague's life-long aspiration is to become one of the Hovel's guards on the outside, as it seems to him to be the only way to see some excitement.
